Audience Task 3

The Hypodermic Syringe effect is a theory in that films and other media will directly effect the audience watching.  For example, if the film is a violent action film the the audience will want to do something violent. This theory led to the films "A clockwork orange" and "Mikey" being banned in fear that the violence in the films would be re-enacted by though who watched it. However some people believe that this is just a theory and that it does no account for peoples individuality. However most TV advertising works in this way. They will show the product being used in hope that it will influence the watcher into doing the same, and buying the product. I think that the Hypodermic Syringe theory could work, however, I do think that human nature and instinct could and do, over rule it. For example; Watching a commercial to get a drink might make someone want to get a drink because it would benefit them and would work along side human nature. Watching a violent film and being influenced to go and act violently should go against human nature and therefore the audience would not be affected.
Examples of how the Hypodermic Syringe effect has effected the media are as follows:
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0066921/ A clockwork Orange, a film banned due to multiple rape scenes as censor groups were worried that audiences would try to re-enact them.
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0104870/ Mikey, Another film banned due to violence, however it was worried that if any children saw the film they would be influenced to kill.

Props.

We are looking for our props and we are using the website "google" to find images of optimum prop choices. Matty has been using window's movie maker to put together our animatic. Sam has been assisting with both of us, he took the photos for the animatic, and has helped me with the search.

the types of prop we would like to use are;

Summery of the past few lessons.

I realize I have fallen behind with my media posts, so here is a short summery of what has happened:
I presented my pitch with my group mates, Matty and Sam, to our class; however there were critisms over our casting, so we have had a group discussion and have decided to recast. I recently went and saw the schools production of "fame: the musical" and have spotted some possible candidates for characters, and once the performance was over I hunted them down and asked if they would like to be a part of our production. There was a mixture of maybes and yeses, however I think that some of these people would be better than our original cast as they would be more professional. During the lessons we have started looking at the significance of props and the meanings behind them and audience research. Due to the cast's age I am thinking that our target audience would be of a similar age however, due to the film genre a more adult audience might be more interested. I will have to research this further, possibly using viral advertising (using social networking sites) to get the general opinion of it. I should be shortly posting some images of possible props and what they signify.
